Bangladesh is facing enormous challenges: climate change, violence against women, religious intolerance and corruption. Fragments Of Time (F.O.T.) will continue to document the changes in that country, after the publication of a first report, with photographs (REF : here put the link to the book).
Violence against women is one of the main subjects we will cover. Women face many threats in their everyday life: in public transports, for instance. Most perpretrators are not prosecuted for their crimes.
The police forces are too corrupted to take action, in many cases. "Mastaans" (street thugs) put pressure on harmless people to extort money, using motorbikes to evade arrestation. They are often linked to local politicians.
Police and Thieves
Bangladesh is a country where anything can happen, very quickly, as the recent events showed.
This could be an Andy Warhol quote. It illustrates the fact that eveything is linked to politics and manipulation, in Bangladesh.
Due to Climate change, the life of fishermen in Bangladesh is threatened. We will continue documenting that subject in 2025-2026. The rise of the sea level put a lot of lives at risk
Rickshaw
Bangladesh is one of the most dangerous countries for young women. Many are afraid to take the public transports, for fear of being assaulted.
